• Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Curriculum

The Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Curriculum at Marshall ISD follows the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. It provides a structured, developmental framework that supports all students in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for academic success, career readiness, and personal-social growth. Through intentional, age-appropriate activities and lessons, the program promotes equity, inclusion, and lifelong learning for every student.

  • Career and Graduation Requirements

Students in MISD pursue a career-and-college ready path aligned with the state’s Foundation High School Program. 
Graduation requires:

  • Completion of the required credits under the Foundation program, including earning an endorsement (such as STEM; Business & Industry; Public Services; Arts & Humanities; or Multidisciplinary Studies). 

  • Successful performance on state required assessments in English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology and U.S. History, unless otherwise substituted under state law. 

  • Submission of either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), or a signed opt-out form prior to graduation.

  • Satisfaction of any additional MISD-specific requirements including locally required courses, attendance, and other graduation-eligibility criteria. 

  • Academic Success

    Strategies/Interventions

    • Provide structured study schedule and checkins.

    • Use graphic organizers for note taking and writing.

    • Offer positive reinforcement for task completion and participation.

  • Special Programs/504/IDEA

  • Current Support Plan Student receives accommodations under a 504 Plan (or IDEA IEP).

  • Accommodations/Modifications

    • Extended time on tests and assignments.

    • Preferential seating and access to digital resources.

    • Breaks as needed to maintain focus.

  • Collaboration Regular communication between general education and special education staff to monitor progress and adjust supports.

  • Social Devlelopment

    Strategies/Interventions 

    • Provide social skills coaching and role playing opportunities.

    • Reinforce positive peer interactions.

    • Encourage participation in structured extracurricular groups.
